Job Summary:
To deliver FSQ-related support to Afghanistan Country Office’s FSQ team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Responsible for operationalizing all food inspection-related works in the FSQ team, including creating work orders, understanding scope of work, monitoring delivery of inspection reports and ensuring the highest standard of work quality from inspection companies.
- Implement and monitor application of protocols to ensure that food safety and quality principles are followed across the supply chain.
- Visit producers/traders contracted by WFP to oversee the inspection operation ensuring compliance with WFP requirements.
- Conduct unannounced visits to suppliers’ production sites to verify the inspection activities of inspection company as per daily inspection reports/checklists.
- Visit FDPs/CPs making sure that indoor food management/handling processes follow WFP Expectations/standards.
- Consolidate technical recommendations reports and follow up with inspection company to implement these improvements within set time frame.
- Provide a set of standard business support activities, where required, to contribute to the effective functioning of business operations.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Completion of secondary school education.
Higher education in lieu of work experience
Relevant, completed university degrees may be considered in lieu of experience with the following conversions:
- Completed Master’s degree: Equal to 1 year of work experience.
- Completed Bachelor’s degree: Equal to 2 year’s work experience.
- For female applicants, 1 or 2 years’ experience may be granted for partly completed studies prior to 2022.
Experience:
- At least 5 years of progressive relevant work experience out of which at least 2 years in food safety and food quality.
Desired Experiences:
- Experience in analysing Food safety and food quality technical inputs (Assessment, Audit reports)
- Experience in drafting technical reports following assessment/audits.
- Experience in measuring service providers’ performance against set KPIs.
- Experience in providing technical business support in corporate systems.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Prior knowledge in food processing/production particularly milling.
- Prior knowledge in HACCP/GMP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points/Good Manufacturing Practices) implementation in food processing units.
- Basic knowledge in ISO 22000 requirements/GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) requirements.
Language:
- Fluency (level C) in English, Dari and Pashto.
