Job Description:

Job Summary: As an Environmental, Social, Health and Safety (ESHS) Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that environmental, social, health, and safety aspects of projects are effectively managed and compliant with relevant standards and regulations. You will work closely with project teams, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to mitigate environmental and social risks, promote health and safety practices, and ensure project sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement environmental, social, health, and safety (ESHS) plans and procedures for the assigned project or lot.
  2. Conduct regular assessments and audits to identify potential environmental and social risks associated with project activities.
  3. Collaborate with project teams to develop strategies for minimizing negative environmental and social impacts.
  4. Monitor compliance with ESHS standards, local regulations, and donor requirements.
  5. Provide guidance and training to project teams and contractors on ESHS best practices.
  6. Investigate and report incidents, accidents, and non-compliance issues related to ESHS.
  7. Facilitate community engagement and consultation processes to address social concerns and promote project acceptance.
  8. Develop and maintain documentation related to ESHS performance and reporting.
  9. Prepare and submit ESHS reports to regulatory authorities and donors as required.
  10. Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and changes in ESHS regulations.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, social science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional relevant experience in ESHS management.
  • Experience in donor-funded projects and familiarity with internal organization practices in a similar field is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of ESHS regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
